Paddling the Confluence With Lucas

Updated: Sep 25, 2022

I've been attempting to talk Lucas into doing a canoe hike and paddle for a good workout sweat and to make us tough. My idea was to hike my Grumman canoe from Burchvale to Confluence state park then paddle to the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers and cruise around the water trails and then hike back up Burch Mountain. He wisely declined. I'll probably continue to challenge him and maybe one day he'll agree. I'm hoping he continues to refuse.

Instead of hiking my boat we drove and brought along my paddleboard for Lucas to use. He started off on his knees but quickly graduated to the stand-up position. Great job Lukey.

Great Blue Heron between the pedestrian and train bridges.

Lucas making a short carry.

Too shallow to sit and float but deep enough to shove and walk behind.

Some good light. Lucas thought this section of the river resembled a crocodile habitat. However, we did see a house cat balancing along tree roots on the water's edge.
